May is Lyme Disease Awareness month. To inform us of the dangers, risks and effects of Lyme we have San Ramon Valley Resident Carolyn Degnan and Dr. Metzger of Harmony Women's Health joining us. Carolyn is a longtime resident of the San Ramon Valley, who served on the boards of the San Ramon Education Foundation, the San Ramon Rotary, the San Ramon Valley YMCA, and the Danville Chamber of Commerce. Carolyn is also a patient advocate for individuals and their families who stricken with Lyme disease and has successfully put on two Lyme Patient Conferences in San Ramon for the California Lyme Disease Association or CALDA. Dr. Metzger obtained her PhD in molecular endocrinology from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas (1979). She graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston (1982), completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology (1986) and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (1988) at Duke University in North Carolina. After six years on the faculty of the University of Connecticut Health Center (where she was an associate professor) she went into private practice in Hartford, CT, specializing in chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, infertility and advanced laparoscopic surgery.
