Joe Bruzzese, M.A. For nearly 20 years Joe Bruzzese has guided children and parents through the challenges of the middle school years and the transition to adolescence. His background as a teacher, coach and parent forms the ideal trio of experiences for coaching parents and kids toward, confident and connected relationships at home and in school. As a leading parent coach and author Joe frequently addresses parent groups at conferences, parent-sponsored events and as part of the work-life balance programs many organizations strive to support in the workplace. A Parents' Guide to the Middle School Years, (Ten Speed Press 2009) is now available for purchase. Joe’s background in education includes a Master’s degree from Azusa Pacific University, in addition to his former tenure as a teacher in the middle school grades. Joe brings years of educational theory and practical experience to his work with families. In addition to the coaching services and seminars he facilitates at Thinking Forward, Joe instructs teachers in the Graduate School of Education, at Azusa Pacific University and UC Santa Barbara.

He is an active writer, counselor and educator. As Executive Director of Metro Arts he is responsible for the overall direction and development of the school and oversight of all daily operations. From 10:40 - 10:55 am PST Joe will host the second guest, Roger D. Casterline, author of, "The IKE Disease." IKE is a one on one counseling session for teenagers. For his book Roger drew on his 27 years of experience as a high school guidance counselor, and 10 years as a Special Agent with the FBI. Roger has been married to his wife, Nicki, for 47 years, and they are both full time authors residing in Florida.

In addition to being a mom of two, soon to be middle-schoolers, Kat Eden works for Education.com. Education.com is a website parents can visit to get the information they need to support their children’s unique educational and developmental needs, and to find ideas for how to make learning more fun. They have about 10,000 articles to help parents learn more about the issues they’re facing with their kids whether those kids are typical, have special needs, or are gifted. The site also has a number of other great resources including thousands of activities parents and kids can do together and a tool called JustAsk that lets parents ask their toughest questions and get answers from other parents and Education.com experts. There’s also a tool called SchooFinder that lets parents get tons of information about the schools their kids currently attend or may attend in the future.
