Pride! Pride is defined as a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.

I bet you never thought that pride might be inhibiting your personal growth. It may be pride about your job, relationship, money, etc. Being full of pride is an awesome feeling, because it represents something you’ve accomplished. Just take a moment and think of the things you have pride in, your family, home, job, relationship. You may start to realize you have pride about things you didn’t even think you had pride about. Pride can be like an inner prize or badge of honor. Did you ever stop and think that your pride could be hurting you? Unconsciously you could be using it as an excuse, a form of arrogance, or an opportunity to hide or simply be using it as a defense mechanism. People have put themselves and their families on the brink of financial ruins based on pride. People have also stayed in relationships or careers based on pride. Pride can be destructive on so many levels.

You may be acting out of pride and not even know it. How do you know this? When was the last time you didn’t do something because you were afraid of not being good at it? When did you reject help from a friend because you didn’t want to appear weak? There’s a difference between being proud of something and letting your pride stand in the way of doing something.  Admitting you’re prideful is admitting you are human. Awareness is the first step, admitting it is the second step and taking Action is the third step. Remember it’s extremely endearing and humanizing to have this defect in your character, when you accept that no one is perfect not even you doesn’t make the task seem less daunting?

Remember “It’s Never Too Late to Claim Your Life”.
