Rising Above: Taking Your Life Back  

Well, I am completely brand new to this whole internet radio thing but I thought I would give it a try.  My name is Jenna Kandyce Linch and I am the founder and editor of Rising Above Magazine, an Ezine which reaches out to victims and survivors of abuse.  I started it as a way to encourage, inspire, and motivate those who find themselves hurting from emotional scars that abuse leaves and let them know that they are not alone in what they go through.  I believe abuse is one subject that does not get the attention it deserves.  Too many lives are shattered by abuse, too many lives lost at the hands of abusers, and too many families mercilessly torn apart.

I know it is not easy to just break the silence because there is always that fear of what will our abusers do if they find out?  For me, it was not easy when I decided to break my silence and put my story out there.  Once I did open up and talk about it though I found so much healing and I felt that a burden was just lifted from me where I finally felt free.  I made the decision to take back control of my life and speak out to help other victims and survivors out there.  I strongly believe that every voice deserves to be heard and every story deserves to be told.  As a domestic violence and child abuse survivor, I know all too well what it is like to live in silence and feel that nobody cares or that nobody is there. 

I have found my voice through my writing.  I am the author of Taking My Life Back: Poems From The Healing Heart of an Abuse Survivor and Still Standing Strong: Surviving The Storms of Abuse.  My third book Heart and Soul of a Survivor is set to be released in October in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 

Rising Above Magazine encourages victims and survivors to share their stories and allow their voices to be heard.  I know that often times it is hard to come forth and share our story because we are so use to people judging us who do not understand where we have been and what we have been through.  I just want you to know that here at Rising Above, we do understand and we do care because we have gone through it in our own lives as well.  All of us on staff are survivors and we are here to help you in your journey as you heal.   With this radio show,  we hope to be able to connect with all our readers, fans, and friends from all over.  We want to be able to get to know you and for you to get to know us.

The first issue of Rising Above will be coming out in October.  The website is www.risingabovemagazine.com.  Our first show will be July 15th.  For the first show, we will tell you what we are all about and answer any questions you may have.  We will cover how to get involved, future events, what to look forward to in future shows, the premiere of the first issue, introduction of the staff, advertising and sponsoring, subscriptions, submitting articles to us, etc.  There won't be any guests for the first show but we will have special guests in upcoming shows so make sure you check in with us weekly to hear what other survivors have to say as they share their stories and testimonies on the air with us.
