I would like to think I'm a home security guru, although I learn something new everyday. I'm not like most people who thinks "it won't happen to me"...In fact, I live my life the exact opposite. I love discovering new secrets, tips and advice when it comes to securing my home and loved ones, so if you have any....GIVE IT!

    Date / Time:

Home Security + iPhones = SAFETY

I read a blog the other day that was stating AT&T was demanding a land line in order to equip you with a home security system. This is true. Companies such as ADT and Brinks do require land lines. But I was bothered by the whole blog. The truth is, you don't need companies such as ADT and Brinks to provide you with a safe and secure home security system.

If you have deadbolts on each door, chains on each door, a smoke detector and sticks in your windows and sliding glass doors, you have a home security system. No, this type of system won't automatically ring the police if a break-in is detected or if CO2 poisoning is leaking througout your home. But it IS a system. And it's a whole lot cheaper than the monthly fee charged by big names.

In comes iPhones. iPhone apps such as Domus and Mobiscope (soon to the market Rosie) are all applications that allow you to control video cameras, CCTV systems, webcams and more right from your iPhone! You can watch live feeds, anywhere, anytime. Plus, through the use of motion detectors, you can be alerted via text or email (your preference) when motion is detected. It's awesome!

So don't believe all of the gossip. Not all of it's true. There are options out there, just make sure you know what they are and understand each before you sign any contracts.
