"Zen in the Art of Archery" is a well-known and oft read book in the spiritual field. It was written back in the 1950's by a European man who found himself living in Japan. He aspired to learn about the practice of Zen, but found it difficult to find a master who was willing to take on a Westerner. After much persistence, he convinced a Zen archery master to take him on as an apprentice, and what he learned about this mysterious philosophy is found in this slim little book. There was no sitting on mountaintops meditating, no ashrams; just a man with a bow and arrow who struggled to understand how archery could change his life!
