Where shall I begin to tell the story of Christian McBride? This bassist, composer, arranger, educator and curator has worked alongside noted musicians and vocalists like James Brown, Ray Brown, Natalie Cole, Chick Corea, D’Angelo, Herbie Hancock, Lalah Hathaway, Isaac Hayes, Don Henley, Bruce Hornsby, Freddie Hubbard, Chaka Khan, Queen Latifah, Sonny Rollins, Carly Simon, Sting, and The Roots. In 1997, he spoke on former President Bill Clinton's town hall meeting "Racism in the Performing Arts"; was named Artistic Director of the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Summer Sessions in 2000; and was officially named the co-director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem as well as second Creative Chair for Jazz of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Assn, in 2005. Since that time, the Christian McBride Band, comprised of McBride, saxophonist Ron Blake, keyboardist Geoffrey Keezer and drummer Terreon Gull, released the CD “Live at Tonic,” which has been called "one of the most intoxicating, least predictable bands on the scene today" by reputable music executive Alan Leeds. Don’t miss this force of nature when he drops in while en route to NYC on Wed, Mar 30th at 2pm. It’s on!
