I may be down, but not out!

Hey everybody! For those looking forward to listening to today's show, unfortunately I have to cancel. I had an emergency appendectomy yesterday morning and I'm not fit to host a show (thank the meds for that one). I am here to give you a brief JayReelz Sports Talk Blog (I couldn't leave you guys hanging). The Giants will steamroll in St. Loo, although it's a dangerous game, because the Rams play better in their building. If they have any pride after last weeks' disaster in Philly, they'll play tough and could cover. I don't see it. Giants 27-13. The showdown at the Meadowlands (sans Tom Brady), but should be exciting nonetheless when the Pats visit the Jets. Tough game to call. The Pats have heard all week how the Jets could come out as division winners now that they're star QB is out for the year. I can see the Pats come back and rip the Jet fans heart right out. 24-20 New England. My week 2 picks in the NFL. CLE +6, SD -2 1/2, DET -3. That's right Detroit. This is a trap game for Green Bay (they play Dallas next week) and after the putrid performance of the Lions in Atlanta last week, I'm picking Detroit. Cleveland may cover or outright win against my beloved Steelers. Pit has won 8 in a row against them, and in week 2, their season could go bust without a win tonight, so they'll play much better. The Chargers will bounce back, even without Shawne Merriman in the lineup. Denver pounded on an inept Raider team on Monday night. So look for the Bolts to squeak by in the Mile High City.

Other quickies....Mets looking to extend their lead by beating the Braves today and hope for a split down in Philadelphia, where the Brewers and Phillies play a day/night doubleheader. At this time of the year, it's not easy to sweep two games (see Mets yesterday) Plus, the Brew Crew desperately need to win one of these two today. If the Phils sweep, they're tied in the wild card lead with Milwaukee. And if Ned Yost and company have any guts, they'll salvage one of these four down in Philly. The Yanks? What is there to talk about? A split yesterday with the Rays. Tragic number to miss the postseason is 7. An empty ballpark last night (okay, it was the makeup game from the Friday rainout, but still). The silent September continues for the Bombers. The Dodgers are looking toward an NL West crown as they continue to play well. The White Sox and Twins will go down to the wire in the division, Tampa will hang on to win the division. They've showed lots of grittiness this past week. Winning two in Boston proved they have heart. Let's see if that translates in October. Angels have wrapped it up. Congrats to K-Rod as he owns the MLB record for saves in a season, 58 and counting.

That's all for now. Enjoy the football today. I'll be recouping watching the Mets at 1pm, the Jets at 4pm, and the Steelers at 8pm. Is there a better way to spend a Sunday? I think not. Until next week, when I'm back on the air. Hope to hear from you then...

    Regards,
    JayReelz
