Mission: The Real Man Campaign is an outreach to all men who are abusive, violent or potentially violent. We are seeking non violent, positive men for this campaign, who are ready, willing and able to assist in this urgent project. This campaign will not only help countless men become free from this relentless crime, but will help to put an end to the domestic violence crisis that is ongoing in every part of the world, restore families and save many lives. The 24 Hour Abuser Hot line will be a national hot line which will work in conjunction with the Real Man Campaign and will be established to operate just like the victims national hot line, with male advocates as the counselors to answer the calls from the abusers. This will allow volunteer access to help in time of need, versus court ordered, which is too late for many cases. There is help 24/7 for the victims, however, we need a hot line for abusers even more. This Campaign is appealing to all Clergy, Celebrities including Actors, Singers, Athletes, etc., Politicians, Medical Personnel, Military, Law Officers and all others that are considered to be men of positive influence to form a task force. The Abuser Hot line will be publicized via television, radio, internet, billboards, print media, etc and will be accessible via telephone, text messaging, email, chat or any other means of communication. This will give the abuser the opportunity to volunteer to get help before an episode gets out of hand. Benefits of this campaign: Interaction Lives saved Family restoration Volunteer versus ordered Men that are of positive influence are being sought out to stand up and be a helping hand to these abusers who are in need of a non violent mentor...one that can lead them in a new and much better way of life, than the one they are living right now. We have leaders in so many areas, that are paving the way for others to follow...why not for the cause of domestic violence, through a campaign that is specifically designed and targeted to reach these abusers, before another episode, which may very well be the last one for the victim? WE NEED MORE MEN TO TAKE A STAND AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. ABUSERS NEED YOU! VICTIMS NEED YOU! WE NEED YOU! BE SILENT NO MORE! IN ORDER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE TRAGIC WORLD OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, JOIN THE REAL MAN CAMPAIGN! I may be down, but not out!

Hey everybody! For those looking forward to listening to today's show, unfortunately I have to cancel. I had an emergency appendectomy yesterday morning and I'm not fit to host a show (thank the meds for that one). I am here to give you a brief JayReelz Sports Talk Blog (I couldn't leave you guys hanging). The Giants will steamroll in St. Loo, although it's a dangerous game, because the Rams play better in their building. If they have any pride after last weeks' disaster in Philly, they'll play tough and could cover. I don't see it. Giants 27-13. The showdown at the Meadowlands (sans Tom Brady), but should be exciting nonetheless when the Pats visit the Jets. Tough game to call. The Pats have heard all week how the Jets could come out as division winners now that they're star QB is out for the year. I can see the Pats come back and rip the Jet fans heart right out. 24-20 New England. My week 2 picks in the NFL. CLE +6, SD -2 1/2, DET -3. That's right Detroit. This is a trap game for Green Bay (they play Dallas next week) and after the putrid performance of the Lions in Atlanta last week, I'm picking Detroit. Cleveland may cover or outright win against my beloved Steelers. Pit has won 8 in a row against them, and in week 2, their season could go bust without a win tonight, so they'll play much better. The Chargers will bounce back, even without Shawne Merriman in the lineup. Denver pounded on an inept Raider team on Monday night. So look for the Bolts to squeak by in the Mile High City.

Other quickies....Mets looking to extend their lead by beating the Braves today and hope for a split down in Philadelphia, where the Brewers and Phillies play a day/night doubleheader. At this time of the year, it's not easy to sweep two games (see Mets yesterday) Plus, the Brew Crew desperately need to win one of these two today. If the Phils sweep, they're tied in the wild card lead with Milwaukee. And if Ned Yost and company have any guts, they'll salvage one of these four down in Philly. The Yanks? What is there to talk about? A split yesterday with the Rays. Tragic number to miss the postseason is 7. An empty ballpark last night (okay, it was the makeup game from the Friday rainout, but still). The silent September continues for the Bombers. The Dodgers are looking toward an NL West crown as they continue to play well. The White Sox and Twins will go down to the wire in the division, Tampa will hang on to win the division. They've showed lots of grittiness this past week. Winning two in Boston proved they have heart. Let's see if that translates in October. Angels have wrapped it up. Congrats to K-Rod as he owns the MLB record for saves in a season, 58 and counting.

That's all for now. Enjoy the football today. I'll be recouping watching the Mets at 1pm, the Jets at 4pm, and the Steelers at 8pm. Is there a better way to spend a Sunday? I think not. Until next week, when I'm back on the air. Hope to hear from you then...

    Regards,
    JayReelz

Back after a week off to enjoy the last unofficial weekend of summer, I'll recap the pennant races that are heating up in baseball. An NFL preview with picks, over/unders. A lil' US Open discussion and much more, tomorrow at 10am.

  • Date / Time:

State of the Yanks, Mets and NFL 2008

    Hello all,

Hope you're reading this in good spirit and health as we count the final minutes of the Summer of 2008. *moment of silence* Now that I got that out of the way, considering that I did not have a show scheduled this past Saturday, I want to share a few thoughts as we usher in September.

To begin, I can officially say, on Monday September 1st at 12:36pm, the 2008 Yankees are DONE! I said it, DONE! (And if by any miraculous chance they come back and clinch the wild card, that'll be the final prediction I EVER make regarding the Bronx Bummers, I mean, Bombers). I was thinking they were done after the Wednesday nights' 11-3 drubbing at the hands of the wild card leading Boston Red Sox, but after a late inning comeback on Thursday, thanks to Jason Giambi's heroics and a Carl Pavano gem against Toronto the next night. (Did I really just type that?), I thought here comes the Yankee train on the express track towards that last series of the year in Fenway, for the right to go to the postseason. Instead what you saw, was a 6-2 lead on Saturday going into the 7th inning, melt away faster than their shrinking playoff hopes (For a second I thought, Brian Bruney, Damaso Marte and Edwar Ramirez were disguised as Joe Smith, Pedro Feliciano and Aaron Heilman) to lose what could be their season defining game 7-6. I thought only the Mets blow four run leads late in games. Add that to the 6-2 stinker at the Stadium yesterday. Andy Pettitte, who lets face it, is just about done himself, didn't get any favors from his left fielder, Xavier Nady, who misplayed a ball in left field to plate a couple of runs to make it 3-0 in the first inning. Other than two insignificant solo shots by Alex Rodriguez (yes, the boo birds are back) and Jason Giambi, (hoping to play for a contract on this Yankee team next year and beyond) the bully offense of this Yankee ballclub went into a slumber that'll take them through the winter and into their new digs across the street in 2009. To quote Bob Costas, "Think about this, if you will!" After the Yanks return from a 10 game, four city trip, they will have their final homestand of the regular season. The final three games coming against the Baltimore Orioles. Can you imagine the Yankees MATHEMATICALLY ELIMINATED before that final Sunday night game? Not the way, George M. Steinbrenner had wrote it up, but certainly his goofy son, Hank did as he waved the white flag on his team and season three weeks ago. Hank, you got what you deserved! Your team won't make the postseason for the first time since 1993, and I can pretty much say, this all started on the day you unceremoniously gave erstwhile manager, Joe Torre an offer he could refuse. Throw in signing A-Rod (at nine more years and 248 MILLION BUCKS), not giving up Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy (ZERO WINS between them) for Johan Santana. Shall I continue? Circle this one on your calendar...the demolition of the old Yankee Stadium will begin on Monday, September 22nd. How sweet it is?

Over to the Mets, where the calendar says September and all us jaded, cynical, neurotic Met fans can think about is this time last year. This team has given us everything. Heartache, angst, frustration, more heartache, listlessness, hope, did I mention heartache...and they're STILL in first place, (by the slimmest of margins I might add). I've said it before, and I'll say it again, this Met club has a handful of those "rip your heart out and stomp on it" type of games this coming month. As we know, the bullpen has been an ambulance ride away to the hospital, if you've watched them. And just when the Mets have had enough offense to propel themselves into first place, I can see them go silently in the night when they absolutely need a hit. They face the Brewers in Milwaukee today through Wednesday, and host the Phillies for three this weekend. It'll be the last time they see Philadelphia this year. (Barring a tie for the division where they'll see one another in a one game playoff.) Like the old legendary voice of the Mets, Bob Murphy, used to say. "Fasten your seatbelts!" Let's just hope the remnants and smoke of the crash of 2007 doesn't repeat itself. Therefore, the demolition of Shea will follow a week after the meltdown in the Bronx.

Lastly, this Saturday I will have my NFL Preview. Briefly, I think the Giants will win their opener on Thursday night, (26-17) and will have a good season. But visions of upsets and 11 straight road wins was 2007, I say 11-5 and a second round exit in the postseason. I'll cover the Jets season this Saturday as well as the rest of the league. Over/unders, Super Bowl predictions and much more on the Jay Reelz Sports Talk Radio program.

As I swallow my last grilled burger and Heineken this summer season, have a good week everyone!

    Jay
