    My Thoughts on Separation

In our program on Twin Flames, Dana and I mentioned separation from Source/God. I feel I should give my perspective on this since I didn't really explain my position during the show. I believe that we are always connected to the Source and any sense of separation comes from a belief system that supports the idea of separteness.

We have historical examples of people who lived, moment by moment, in this state of connectedness. Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, the Dalai Lama and others embody this connection with Source. Jesus even went so far as to actively speak about his connection by saying things like, "My Father and I are one." We call this connection sitori, enlightenment, awakening and various other things, depending on culture.

So if it's true that being in this physical realm means experiencing a separation or disconnection from Source, how is it that we see human beings making this connection? One explanation is that they are superhuman; different than the rest of us. However, if that is true, why do we see many of the Eastern philosophies teaching that "enlightenment can occur at any time"? In Zen, for instance, they teach students to re-train their thinking through the use of parables or koans that require expanded thinking. One famous example of a Zen koan is "What is the sound of one hand clapping?"
The purpose of such mind exercises is to free the mind from its normal patterns so that broader ideas can enter.

If it is true that only special, highly evolved or Divinely appointed individuals can reconnect, what is the point in studying practices like Zen and meditation and how is it that so many seemingly regular people are able to reach this enlightenment after years of training themselves? It appears to me to be matter of mental discipline (doing away with beliefs that do not serve us and fostering ones that do) rather than Divine selection.

I contend that we are never separate from Source; it only appears that way and if we can re-train our thinking so we understand that we are always connected, then all of us can experience the joy and wonder that Buddha, Krishna, Jesus, the Dalai Lama, Michael Beckwith, Ernest Holmes, Charles Fillmore, Mertyle Fillmore, Florence Scovel-Shinn and others felt.
