Today we are joined by special guest Kevin Doyle on It's Your Dime radio. Wecruise through the NFC North news of the day to bring you all the latest details of the fortunes and misfortunes of our favorite teams. Kevin will be adding his own vibrant dash of color and commentary.

In the misfortune department, the Minnesota Vikings placed rookie wide receiver Greg Childs on injury waivers today. After he clears waivers, they will no doubt place him on injured reserve. Childs recently sustained a rather gruesome injury to both knees and not only is his season over, but his future career may be in doubt. Who will step up in Childs' absence?

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has succeeded in postponing his pretrial hearing until September. He certainly seems determined not to take a plea if he can get this thing entirely quashed. Will this distraction hamper the Vikings' efforts to prepare for the season?

Detroit Lions defensive end Cliff Avril is in camp and he is participating in drills, although per NFL rule he will not be able to practice in pads until Wednesday. He seems confident that he'll be able to shake off any rust and get right into the swing of things. Meanwhile, safety Louis Delmas remains on a pitch count as the Lions try to ease him into the rigors of training camp and prevent injury.

The Chicago Bears signed Rashied Davis to fill the special teams spot vacated by the retiring Devin Thomas.

The preseason tilt between the Green Bay Packers and San Diego Chargers will feature -- for the first time ever -- a female official.  Are the replacements up to the task?
