The Green Bay Packers are the consensus favorites in the early going, but they have some mounting concerns in their secondary as well as their backfield. Will their overpowering offense be able to compensate for the weaknesses in other phases of the game? Perhaps more to the point, will their sometimes porous offensive line be able to keep quarterback Aaron Rodgers on his feet?
For a player only in his second year, with the future of a franchise on his shoulders, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder has remained relatively unscathed by media scrutiny this year. The Vikings are by no means one of the deeper teams in the NFC North, so if they are to return to prominence, Ponder will have to step up in concert with his running game. Is this the year Christian Ponder makes a name for himself as a quarterback to be reckoned with, or is success still a couple years off?
The Detroit Lions have seemed to be on something of an offseason skid -- in more than one sense of the word. The time has come to get serious, though, as the hitting is about to begin in earnest. Does this team have the intestinal fortitude required to pull together and make a respectable regular-season performance, or will they crumble under the ponderous weight of their own immaturity and recklessness?
