The day was notable not only for those players who signed but also for those who held the line. Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte was among the players who inked a deal, as was Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice. New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker was another player who remained unsigned at close of business Monday.
Speaking of players being signed, the New York Knicks need to decide whether to match the $28 million offer from the Houston Rockets for point guard Jeremy Lin. Also, recently acquired Jason Kidd celebrated his 40th birthday by getting involved in a DWI. Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster looks to be traded any day and has a reported 10 suitors.
