Documentary film directors Justin Blair and Matthew Vincent will be joining us tonight to discuss the creation of their independent film Across the Forest: Tales from Transylvania. The film is a documentary on the Romanian strigoi, ghosts, and forest spirits. Justin and Matthew are American film makers that traveled to Romania to create their latest production to interview the local people and to collect and compile the legends and lore of the people related to vampires and supernatural happenings. Matthew Vincent and Justin Blair traveled to the west of the Carpathian Mountains in Romania to find out about Romanian supernatural beliefs. While the team was aware of the eerie reputation of Transylvania attributed to Bram Stoker and Dracula, they found the lore of the region much more exciting. The film makers documented stories about the strigoi, a creature with similar characteristics to the vampire, but also having characteristics similar to ghosts. The film examines countless strigoi reports, reports of strange abductions, reports on pricolici (a weredog), and more. After returning from Transylvania where the film was shot, the team faced more than forty hours of footage that required translation.

Robert Bauval was born in Alexandria Egypt and later traveled to England to pursue his education in Building Construction and Management at the University of the South Bank in London. In 1989, Bauval published a study which argued that the layout of the three Giza Pyramids and their relative position to the Nile was intended to replicate the layout of the three stars in Orion’s belt and their relative position to the Milky Way. The thesis is known as the Orion Correlation Theory and is the subject of Bauval’s first book: The Orion Mystery, which has been translated into more than twenty languages and has been highlighted on the BBC, ABC, the Discovery Channel, and others. Bauval later co-authored the Message of the Sphinx with Graham Hancock, and he then followed the latter publication with Secret Chamber, Tailsman (also with Graham Hancock), and The Egypt Code. Bauval is presently working on a new book entitled Sirius Rising, which will trace the influence of the Egyptian Star-Goddess Sopdet (Sirius) from prehistoric times to the early Christian Era and which will focus on Her role in the rebirth cult and temple rituals and alignments. Bauval resides in Spain and once resided near the Giza pyramids with his wife Michelle while working on The Egypt Code. Tonight, Robert Bauval will be joining us to discuss The Egypt Code: a book which examines the ground/sky correlation of Egyptian landmarks and examines the possibility of a grand plan spanning 3,000 years of pharaonic civilization involving pyramids and major temple sites along the Nile.

At an early age, I became extremely interested in the paranormal. I am an avid bibliophile, and I appreciate fiction and non-fiction works of all kinds. I am a huge fan of Stephen King, Dean Koontz, John Saul, Scott Cunningham, and Doreen Valiente, among many other fantastic writers. Anything considered paranormal fascinates me, and I continue to absorb myself with studies related to the paranormal field. My hopes create an interesting paradox for I hope that which is unexplainable is finally understood one day, but I also know that with understanding also comes the loss of the mysterious; what once had intrigued many people will become normal and commonplace.
In my spare time (which is very little), I like to read, write, and draw. I also like to headstone hunt with my husband Mark. Currently, I am a writer and I have both my A.A. and my B.A., having majored in English. Eventually, I plan to pursue my M.A and PhD. I am a Wiccan priestess in the Dragon Warriors of Isis, eclectic coven and the mother of five who loves both Wicca and the paranormal. I have had previous publications appear in Blood Moon Rising Magazine (Sapphire Publications, 2000 & 2001), Crescent Magazine (2003 & 2004), Threads Magazine (2002-2004), Russell Sage Review (2005-2006), and the Journal for the Academic Study of Magic: Issue 5 (2009), published by Oxford at Mandrake.
I first became interested in the paranormal over thirty years ago. I was around fourteen years old when I had my first spirit encounter. Since that time, my experiences have led me to a broader study of the occult and the paranormal. I was drawn to the Goddess path at the age of eight, and have remained on the path ever since. I am Wiccan; I am the High Priestess of the Dragon Warriors of Isis,an eclectic coven, I have maintained an interest in demonology, and I have made it my life’s work to figure out what is on the other side, the causes of paranormal activity, and how to assist people that experience activity. I firmly believe there are hauntings that can be classified as inhuman, and that people suffer terribly when such activity is encountered.
I will openly admit that I do not know everything about the paranormal and suggest that if anyone ever meets up with a person that claims to have all the answers, to steer clear of that individual. The paranormal is “beyond normal,” and while I strive to understand it, how it happens, why it happens, and attempt to implement solutions, there are many things that remain unresolved and not clearly understood. My partner and I started a ghost research group so that we could learn what we can, while simultaneously sharing what we have learned with others. We look forward to assisting people, to helping them understand paranormal events, in as much as it is possible to understand their unique experiences.
