  Biography of Scott A. Johnson

  Scott A. Johnson is a native of Texas: a state filled with ghost stories, legends, and folklore.  The latter tales had a great influence on Scott during his childhood.  Scot enjoyed watching Chiller Theater as a child along with his brother, and he came to appreciate the work of Borris Karloff, Vincent Price, and Bela Lugosi.  During his educational career in junior high school, Scott fell in love with the art of writing when he read The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe.  He began his fiction writing career during his attendance at college at Texas State University-San Marcos, formerly known as the Southwest Texas State University.  He graduated from the university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication and Advertising, and he later took on a full time position working as a Media Technician for the English Department at the same university.  During his employment at the college he met with a number of fantastic authors including authors from the faculty and visiting authors.

  Scott has since published short stories in a variety of magazines including “The Corpse Magazine,” “Alien Skin Magazine,” and “All Hallows.”  He also presently writes a column called Cold Spots for Dread Central and he has authored numerous novels and nonfiction books.  Scott resides in San Marcos with his wife Tabitha, and his two daughters Zoe and Anna.  He currently teaches the Masters of Arts in Writing Popular Fiction program at Seton Hill University.

  Deadlands (ISBN 978-1891799303): This work is a 255 page novel published by Harbor House in 2005.  Deadlands tells the tale of a planet once known as earth which now exists as a barren wasteland.  Humans surviving underground must constantly be on guard from the rotters: mindless corpses that pervade the earth’s scorched and barren surface.  A new threat has evolved: one bent on the destruction of the human race.  This work is also available as a downloadable eBook for Amazon Kindle.

  Deadlands: Expanded Version (ISBN 978-1442182394): This work is 146 pages in length and is designed with a brand new cover, unique formatting, and two brand new zombie thrillers.  This book was proudly re-released by the Library of the Living Dead Press in 2009.

  Cold Spots: Ghosts of San Antonio (ISBN 978-0764331220):  This 160 page book, published by Schiffer Publishing in 2008, reveals the proud history of the state of Texas, but it also reveals the darker aspects of such a history.  Ghosts of San Antonio is a written guide of the most haunted destinations in San Antonio known to date.  Reports of hauntings at the Menger Hotel, the Cadillac Bar, and the Alamo among other ghostly stories are offered.

  City of Demons: (ISBN 978-1448610853) This work is a 146 page book published by the Library of horror; City of Demons is a horror noir novel published in 2009.  During daylight, the city is normal and the inhabitants of the city rush through their mundane lives.  When the cloak of night settles in, bizarre events begin to occur; a series of brutal murders instill a wave of panic in the city, and the murders call out to a detective who has been psychologically scarred from his last encounter with a killer.  The detective is unstable, and possesses the strange ability to experience the last few moments of the murder victims’ lives.  Paired with a new partner, the detective dives deeply into a bizarre, otherwise unnoticed, and ignored realm to uncover the horrific truth behind the grisly murders plaguing the city.  This book is also available as a downloadable eBook for Amazon Kindle.

  The Mayor's Guide to the Stately Ghosts of Augusta (ISBN 978-1891799280):  A 180 page text published by Harbor House in 2005, this book serves as the official ghostly guide to the hauntings in Augusta, Georgia.  Augusta is the second largest and oldest city in the state of Georgia and it is also a city associated with various lore, legends, and stories about supernatural accounts dating as far back as the Colonial period.

  An American Haunting: (ISBN 978-1891799112) This 300 page book published by Harbor House in 2004 is Scott’s debut novel: a truth-based story that explores the very nature of evil.  The story centers on Gabriel Rosework, a man who seeks to make a financially stable life for his family.  After borrowing funds from his mother and father to purchase a small house in the historic district of San Marcos, Gabriel slowly begins to realize that he has bought into far more than he bargained for.  Struggling to prove his worth to his own father and to protect the people he loves, Gabriel is drawn away from his skepticism and pulled into the very heart of evil.

  Cane River: A Ghost Story (ISBN 978-1891799662) This 208 page novel was published by Batwing Press in 2008.  Mystery is plentiful in Cane River, Texas, as a little girl that disappeared years ago begins appearing in the vines around town.  Eugene Wheeler is the only town inhabitant that might have some explanation for the strange sightings, and his son Bill Wheeler returns to the town shortly after his wife and unborn child die.  Bill, seeking to reunite and connect with his seemingly crazy father also seeks to leave his emotional pain behind him.  Nevertheless, bizarre events seemingly follow him: strange, unexplainable breezes occur in his apartment, disembodied voices call from empty rooms, and a young girl wants more from him than he can fully understand.  Eugene Wheeler has the answers.  Bill meets up with Sandy Duprie, but before romance has a chance to bloom, the young girl that is following him takes something very precious from the both which leads the on a terrifying journey into the very heart of the Texas swamp that is Cane River.
