Maintenance of existing equipment and conducting repair work in theatre has been identified as a key way of ensuring sufficient numbers of working vehicles to meet demand within strained budgets. This interview explores the latest advances in assessing the health of systems, diagnostics for rapid anomaly detection and remaining life prediction for mission maintenance. We interview an expert in the field: Professor Peter Sandborn of the Prognostics and Health Management Consortium, Centre for Advanced Life Cycle Engineering at the University of Maryland. Professor Sandborn will be a speaker on day two of the Vehicle Maintenance and Upgrades Conference 2010. The conference will be taking place at CCT Canary Wharf in London between 6th and 8th July.
