Dr. Zac Henson will be informing and entertaining us as we talk about: Cooperative Education pertaining to Birmingham Urban Development pertaining to Birmingham Football pertaining to football, because, well, it's football season! We'll also be taking callers the last 30 minutes of the show to discuss any of the above with Dr. Henson. Guest Bio: Dr. Zac Henson in his own words, is a Berkeley educated activist-scholar who received his PhD in 2013. I am a working class activist scholar. I was an auto mechanic before I went to college, my father is the first in his family to earn a college degree, and my grandmother was a sharecropper in Winston County. I am a redneck - a white, working class Southerner - and I am proud to be one. Our school, The Cooperative New School for Urban Studies and Environmental Justice is for people like me, oppressed people from across the globe, people who want change, and people who want the autonomy, individually or collectively, to enact that change. The CNS will be owned by the faculty, the students, and the staff, and we will control the educational process. The cost will be less than community college, will be all online, and will train the next generation of activists, community organizers, and social entrepreneurs. This next generation institution of higher education will democratize knowledge and prepare students to survive in a world with decreasing opportunity. We will train them to make their own opportunity and create opportunities for others.
