Meet and chat with Soraya Diase Coffelt, lawyer, former judge, small business owner, wife, mother, and caregiver as she enters the race for Governor of the Virgin Islands.

Born on St. Thomas to lower-middle class parents, Soraya lived with her family above their small business, known as The London Store, a general store located in the Down Street area of Charlotte Amalie. Her parents had previously lived on the islands of Tortola and St. Croix, and has had businesses there as well.

"Children and education are at the top of the list", she said, and she spent a good portion of her speech talking about illiteracy and poverty. “I want to be known, and I will earn the distinction of being your education governor,” she said. “I will make a major push in our education system to have students taught not only what they need to learn if they want to attend college, but also employable job skills, so that they can get a job immediately when they graduate from high school.”

If you're concerned about the future of the Virgin Islands, this is a show and candidate you won't want to miss.
