    Multi-hyphenate Bobby Mardis on "Inside Urban Hollywood," Monday, July 20, 2009

    Mutli-hyphenate Bobby Mardis will appear on the July 20th edition of "Inside Urban Hollywood" with host Tanya Kersey and co-host Tiffini Bowers to talk about surviving in Hollywood by any means necessary.  A multi-talented producer, director, writer, technical supervisor, production director and cameraman, Bobby has produced film, television and various industrial projects for the last twenty-nine years.   The show will stream live from the home page at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/insideurbanhollywood.com on Monday, July 20th at 6pm PST/9pm EST.  Listeners can call-in and ask questions to 646-200-3290.

    Showtime Network has aired Bobby’s “Why Colors?” which starred notables talents such as Regina King, Ice – T, Barry White, Anne Marie Johnson and a number of his Robert Townsend’s Partner’s in Crime friends.  He also produced and directed “Circle of Pain” which starred Glynn Turman, Anna Marie Horseford, Todd Bridges and was the late Rosalind Cash’s last film. Mardis has received awards for his films in over twenty film festivals around the world. His comedy made for television movie entitled, “Midnight Blue” which he scripted and directed achieved the highest rated standing in the series of B.E.T. Arabesque Films.
     
    Bobby’s main focus is writing and directing narrative projects. He has produced straight-to-video projects, like the thriller, “One Last Time.” On his slate of releases is an all-Latin Urban project, entitled, “Neighborhood Kings.”  In the commercial area, he has produced a set of Hallmark commercials spotlighting the poetry of a national treasure, Maya Angelou. His body of work has also includes working with companies such as: Nike, Infiniti, Axa Financial, The Limited, Household International and a number of other Fortune Five Hundred companies.  Beside industrials and commercials, he has also produced and directed music videos, electronic press kits and documentaries. His specialty work with foundations and smaller companies stand out.

    His documentary “Beats by the Bay,” is about the independent hip-hop and rap scene in San Francisco’s Bay Area. “Beats by the Bay” is a five DVD, feature-length set which also includes two sound track CDs. Bobby Mardis’ “Passing the Torch” is a jazz project that is currently in post-production.  This is a jazz documentary about passing down the art of jazz from one generation to the next.  He has captured over 206 legendary jazz musicians from all over the world in various venues.  Some of the artists include: Nancy Wilson, Freddie Hubbard, Lionel Hampton, Stanley Turrentine, Illinois Jacquet, Arturo Sandoval, Winton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Grover Washington, Jr. and the list goes on…  
     
    Mardis teamed up with Stan Foster to produce a pilot called, “In the Cut” for Comedy Central. Bobby directed the DGA tribute to Richard Pryor with Eddie Griffith, Sidney Poitier, Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams and David Chapelle. The previous years to Pryor, he directed and edited the tribute to Maya Angelou and F. Gary Gray, which also had a host of celebrity supporters. He has just completed directing two more straight to video multi- camera Gospel comedy shows; “Shout” and “I Got Problems”. Bobby has completed directing his first Latin Sitcom Pilot called “X & L Customs.” AXE Attractions contracted him to produce a series of films “Only in Your Dreams,” “Holy Fit,” and “The Let out Guys.”
