Interview with Shiraz

Topics of conversation:

  • Just released and many award wins - What's the buzz about Defenders of the Scroll?
  • Origins of this project - What is a Series Bible?
  • Multi-cultural theme and it's potential to reach a wide audience
  • New computer technologies affecting the literary world
  • The rewards and unexpected surprises facing new authors

Shiraz was raised just outside Toronto, Canada, but has lived and worked in Germany, Japan, and Australia as a software developer. Shiraz has typically developed business software, but recently moved to video games. He designed and project managed the games for several interactive movies including “Snowbirds,” (won the 2006 Intellichoice Awards), and “The Dolphin Bay Project,” (showing at MOTE Marine Labs in Florida). He also posted his first iPhone game, “Drop Zone Elite,” on the app store.

Shiraz has been writing for fun all his life, but it wasn’t until he teamed up with Rupinder Malhotra, at R.M. Productions, to create several Series Bibles for a children’s animated series. “Defenders of the Scroll” is actually based on one of those bibles.
