    INSIDE OUT: Christian “Thaahum” Abrokwah

    Christian’s unique style makes him a much needed artist in the music industry. He describes his style as supraliminal Hip Hop; “supraliminal” meaning beyond the realm of consciousness, to induce a sensation. That is exactly what he does in his music. Noticing a gap between the positive sounds of underground Hip Hop, and it’s more popular mainstream counterpart, he’s always had a vision to bridge the two. His ability to smoothly put positive words to commercially appealing beats make him that bridge between underground and mainstream Hip Hop. Sticking true to his vision he picked the alias “Thaahum” as his artist name which is a cuneiform word meaning intellect. He has done custom songs promoting projects for some mainstream media such as View Askew Productions, Sony Home Entertainment, and National Lampoon’s. Hearing about his positive music mentor and film producer Don Boyer, placed Christian’s song “A Matter of Choice” in his film The Power of Mentorship (2007), starring Bob Proctor and Marie Diamond from the hit movie The Secret. Shortly after the film was released Christian got the idea to put out his own project similar to the Secret and the Power of Mentorship that would be geared for the Hip Hop audience. He thus came up with the Inspiration on Fire mixtape series, in which he describes as “a musical journey in the subconscious mind to unlock ones’ deepest potential.” For the series he interviewed writers with different spiritual backgrounds asking their perspective on personal development. Their answers are then mixed in with songs he wrote on similar topics.     Inside Out: Janet Conner's new book, Writing Down Your Soul

    Janet Conner did not set out to be a spiritual writer or teacher. She earned a BS from Marquette University in Speech Pathology and an MA in Education of the Deaf from Northwestern University. Her first career was in special education. In 1982, she created the first videojournalist recruitment program at CNN. After she and her husband moved to Florida, she ran a division of an international search firm. But then, everything changed In 1997, in the midst of a lucrative consulting career, her marriage imploded and her life disintegrated overnight into wearing a police call necklace, keeping 911 predialed on her cell phone, and occasionally taking her young son into hiding. Out of sheer desperation, Janet poured her soul onto her journal every morning, describing what was happening in ghastly detail and demanding--demanding!--help. Here's the important part of the story: Help came. Every day. Sometimes in the form of direction, but often in the guise of questions she hadn't been willing to ask. Janet discovered that when she asked hard questions, the voice responded with rich, profound guidance. Like Hansel in the fairytale, Janet faithfully followed those bits of wisdom until, three years later, she and her son were safe, her business was restored to six figures, and she was able to purchase a new townhome. This isn’t wrong, it just doesn’t lend itself to “the highest and the best that mental science has to offer.” "If you want the best that mental science has to offer, don’t postpone accepting your completeness for one more moment."
