In It to Win It: NBA Off-Season

Our first show will feature a discussion of the biggest moves made in the NBA off-season by teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, Orlando Magic, Dallas Mavericks, and of course, the San Antonio Spurs. There is an off-season excitement in San Anotnio not seen for several years as Spurs owner Peter Holt has gone on an uncharacteristic spending spree. Recession? What Recession? In a surprising trade, San Antonio sent FAB Oberto, Kurt Thomas, and fan-favorite Bruce Bowen to the Bucks for Richard Jefferson. As usual, Spurs fans never tire of a favorable Draft night, and this year we sure as hell got one. DeJuan Blair joins the team with rebounding and a toughness that kindles memories of Tony Massenburg, Mario Elie, and Kevin Willis. Perhaps the biggest trade involved Steve Kerr abandoning his Shaquille O'Neal philosophy and sending him to Cleveland where he will relinquish his Big Cactus nickname and become "The Big Witness Protection." Okay. After tough negotiations with the Lakers, Lamar Odom decided to stay in LA to welcome Ron Artest to the team. Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic finally folded a bad hand in Hedo Turkoglu (known by San Antonians as "He Don't") and acquired dimly burning star, Vince Carter. With the Celtics luring in Rasheed Wallace and Shawn Marion joining the Dallas Mavericks, there has been more movement of good players this year that any in recent memory. We'll talk about how the 2009-2010 NBA Season looks and which team made the best moves.
