Today we will dive into divine inspiration with our show guest, April King.  Her website is www.mzking.com.  Mz. King is a prolific Drummer, MC, Spoken Word Artist, Producer, & Educator.

Intl Recording Artist and Omnicultural Education advocate April King has been a source of lyrical inspiration and rhythmic motivation to students and audiences worldwide for over a decade.  King has deeeeeeep pocket, solid chops and what she calls “the nod factor.”   A pioneer in the field of 5-way independence, she raps WHILE holding down the groove AND triggering samples. Her latest collaborations in The  F R E Q U E N C I N G  Project opened the door to work with many talented artists ranging in style from Hip Hop, Go-Go, Progressive Jazz, Fusion, Dubstep, Funk, Afrobeat, Senegalese, and everything one could imagine on an Afro-Futuristic sonic voyage.  An advocate of Lyrical Manifestation and Green Culture, King’s inspired performances & workshops are getting rave reviews! King  has been the house drummer for The Root's "Black Lily" (hosted by Black Thought) and has performed with renowned Los Angeles artists and groups such as KLYMAXX, Gina Rene, The Luminaries, Gina Loring while opening for acts such as KRS-ONE, Medusa and J*Davey.  Mz. King has shared stage with Saritah, Tony Allen, Julien Lourau and more. King has played for the Debbie Allen Dance Academy & also performed with the house band of the Agape Spiritual Center (her spiritual home) with Rickie Byars Beckwith.  Mz. King produces music for artists, tv, film and commercials.  She also tracks live drums or program beats for projects worldwide.  When she’s not locked in the woodshed or studio, Mz. King enjoys spending time in the mountains or seaside, speaking French, the Het Heru Healing Dance, Yoga, learning Senegalese Djembe and rhythms in Leimert Park and creating gourmet Vegan food.
