My former best friend was dead set against dating dark-skinned men and would openly tell them that. I, on the other hand, LOVE chocolate men. Tyrese and the dude from Tyler Perry's sitcom are some of the most attractive men to me. I think, not only because they are genuinely cute, the way I was raised to embrace different shades, it made me find darker skin even more attractive. However, I date light skinned men just as quickly.

...never heard the Imus excerpt in full. As much as I hate it when brothas disrespect Black women in songs, it annoys me more for someone to blame it on music he doesn't even listen to.
Mr. Paperback Brown, I am loving your show. I am so glad to have met you today. The light-skinned issue wasn't as apparent for me. Majority of my mother's side is Creole and very light-skinned, but for some reason, they all made a point of instilling pride in me for being a brown sista. I never had issues with dolls or skin or feeling bad about being a darker skinned sista. I was little and proud of it! As for the guy who said "nigger" with venom, that made my skin crawl. Correction: 70% of all new HIV positive patients are African American women, not 70% of African American women are HIV positive. This guy's book sounds interesting. I'm trying to find a link to his book.

I enjoyed discussing issues about the Black community with you, Indie's Urban World, today on WEALLBE Radio, so of course I checked out your show. This one caught my attention because of the brotha who was talking about HIV/AIDS. Seventy percent of Black women are HIV positive. We have GOT to get it together. -http://www.shamontiel.com
