Balan Ayyar is the Chief Operating Officer for Sevatec, Inc., a privately held $75M IT solutions firm specializing in cyber, business intelligence, Agile software development, content and learning management and system integration across the federal marketplace. 

Before Balan transitioned into the business environment, he was the Commanding General of Combined Joint Interagency Task Force 435, comprised of over 2,500 American military and interagency leaders charged with protecting US and coalition forces from insurgent and terror related threats in Afghanistan. He has served in four combatant commands, directly for the Secretary of Defense as his military assistant and in the White House as a White House Fellow. He led USAF Recruiting Service responsible for marketing, advertising and accessions across the United States, Europe and the Pacific. He was senior representative of the United States Transportation Command across the Middle East and Central Asia overseeing the strategic supply chain during the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. 

 Gen Ayyar is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and holds graduate degrees in Strategic Studies, Public Administration, and Industrial Resource Management. He is a command aviator with several thousand hours in single engine and multi-engine jet aircraft and has led complex organizations of a few hundred to strategic organizations of over five thousand through successful cultural transformation.  He is the first of his class to be selected as General Officer and the first Indian American General Officer in the United States Armed Forces.  

 General Ayyar is a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is the recipient of several distinguished military awards. Balan is a Board Member of Fairfax Futures, an early childhood education non-profit partnership. He is happily married with three children.
