Dr. Pat Basu is a physician, entrepreneur, executive and public servant. In 2013 he helped launch Doctor On Demand, a service which enables patients to instantly video connect with a physician or psychologist from their phone, tablet or computer. He oversees nearly 1,400 doctors who can diagnose, treat and prescribe medications. The company has expanded cost-effective, convenient medical and mental health care for millions of Americans. Previously, Dr. Basu served as Chief Medical Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Virtual Radiologic – which he helped grow into the largest provider of radiology and largest telemedicine company in the world. In 2010, Dr. Basu took a leave from the Stanford University Faculty to serve his country as a White House Fellow. Considered America’s most prestigious and selective program for national leadership and public service, the White House Fellows’ roughly 400 alumni include Cabinet Secretaries, Senators, Generals, University leaders and CEOs. Dr. Basu continues to play a prominent leadership role in community and public service. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on State Board of Health in Illinois. He serves on the Board of Directors for the University of Illinois Alumni Association and the Board of Governors for the Stanford Medical Alumni Association. Dr. Basu has served on the admissions committees at Stanford University School of Medicine and the University of Chicago’s School of Business. Dr. Basu graduated with Honors from the University of Chicago, where he received both his M.D. and his M.B.A. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois where he also graduated with Honors.
