My guest tonight is Matt Duffin. In 2008, he suffered a terrible scooter accident, where he was thrown 51 feet, landing on his head. That day, Matt's life changed forever. The trauma not only changed Matt, but also had a profound effect on two life long friends, that witnessed his accident. Matt subsequently spent 54 days in a coma, and endured a lengthy recovery process.
Before his accident, Matt had been a sports writer for his local newspaper for 15 years, and then went on to cover the Butler Indiana basketball team. He served over 9 years in the US Navy as Master at Arms, and was even in Iran during the now famous Hostage Crisis. Matt has had a lot of experience to draw from.
We'll talk a little about the challenges that he has faced, the things he's done to support his own recovery, and the many efforts he has made to help other TBI survivors.
Tonight we will also discuss the new upcoming radio shows, where Matt & I will both be hosts! Our shows will be part of a line up of nightly programs on The Brain Injury Network.
Host is Kim Justus, author of In a Flash: Miracles and Here Beyond. Details found at inaflash.org
