My guest tonight is Poli McClatchey. She suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm in 2007, and is now looking at a craniotomy to correct a second one that was discovered, on July 30th. We will be sending up many prayers for her successful outcome, and have her back at a future date to hear how she's doing.
Tonight we'll be talking about Poli's past experience, her feelings about the pending surgery, and how she keeps a positive attitude through her extreme challenges. Unfortunately one of those challenges is that she lost her job, and subsequently her health insurance, around the time she found out about her need for surgery. Friends and family have started a fund at http://www.gofundme.com/uolms to help raise money to pay the astronomical bills. This has been happening way too frequently in our country. It's an especially horrendous thing, when it comes down to life or death. Please help if you can.
She will also share with us a piece by an unknown author called, "What Aneurysm Survivors Would Like Everyone To Know." When she shared the piece with me, it was like a light bulb had flipped on. I too have lived it, but she helped me define it. This is a must have piece for brain trauma survivors and their friends and families.
