Dj Asselin is a survivor and advocate for Traumatic Brain Injury. In 2005, he experienced a severe blow to the head in the course of his job, which led to a serious brain bleed. He was initially taken to a hospital with no Neurosurgeon. His diagnosis was correct, but the facility he ended up in, was not capable of dealing with his Level 1 Trauma. His journey through recovery was long and arduous. He entered into a lengthy coma, underwent cranial surgery, spent a protracted stay at an extended care facility, and continues his recovery today.
The lessons he's learned are valuable for others recovering from Brain Injury or any number of serious health conditions. So often these life changing circumstances happen out of the blue, and people have no way of preparing. After the life changing event, they don't know where to turn.
Dj has created an Internet group on Facebook, called Teamhilevel that facilitates support for people with a variety of conditions. His extensive research, lengthy recovery process and skillful use of social media as a means of support, has been a life-saver for so many people in need. He's a regular guest on BTR's Brain Injury Show and an invaluable resource to those lucky enough to find him in their time of need. Tonight he will share some tips that he's gleaned in his process, that will raise awareness to those already lost in a medical maze, or who will be facing one in the future.
