Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a technique that draws on various theories of alternative medicine including acupuncture, neurolinguistic programming, energy medicine, and Thought Field Therapy. During an EFT session, the individual will focus on a specific issue or desired state of being, while tapping on so-called "energy meridians." The meridian concept originates in ancient Chinese medicine, and is thought to be a path which the life-energy known as "qi" flows. While some scientists find no basis in this theory, other people have found relief over the centuries.
