Attaining the Prize

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. 1 Cor 9:24. To run and to win requires great discipline from the participants, but since this is not any ordinary or natural race, it will be impossible for anyone to successfully discipline themselves, according to God’s standards. We have discovered in our previous studies that discipline is a work of The Holy Spirit. The discipline sighted in this context is known as self-control, a part of the fruit of The Spirit listed in Gal 5:23; this discipline directly focuses on bringing the body to a place of being a slave for the fulfilling of the holy calling.
