In Corinth, believers found themselves opposed to the work of the cross. They were not allowing the cross to cancel out the pride, the flesh, and the lusts. Whenever or wherever the souls rules, the flesh is empowered to demand its rights. Such is the case in chapter 6, where a fellow christian takes another brother to a court of law so that his rights might prevail against another. This is an indication that the strength of the flesh was defiant to the cross. When there is failure to see beyond the wrong being done to you, or if there is no hope outside the injustice being meted out, the inevitable transpires; in other words, you become a prisoner of time, one who can only see what is advantageous to them, what makes them to be superior to the other person. Anyone who is unable to suffer wrong or be defrauded is a person living in the darkness of deception, and not from the reality of eternity. 1 Corithians 6: 6-10.
