In the latest of a series of attacks on academic freedom concerning the question of Palestine, the UC Hastings College of Law recently bowed to pressure from the Anti-Defamation League and the American Jewish Committee, removing its name from a conference that it hosted on Palestinian rights and canceling a speech that its dean was to deliver to the gathering. Despite protests from students and faculty, school directors have so far refused to comment or explain their decision.

GUESTS:
George Bisharat is a professor at UC Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco & a senior fellow at the Institute for Palestine Studies.

Rashid Khalidi is the Edward Said Professor of Arab Studies at Columbia University & author of six books on Palestinian history and American foreign policy in the Middle East.

Cecilie Surasky is Deputy Director of Jewish Voice for Peace and founder of MuzzleWatch, a website dedicated to "Tracking efforts to stifle open debate about US-Israeli foreign policy."
