With the leaking on Sunday of thousands of internal documents on Israeli-Palestinian negotiations - many of which illustrate Palestinian negotiators making unprecedented compromises to Israel - the damage to the Palestinian Authority and the long-ailing peace process is expected to be considerable.

Rashid Khalidi is the Edward Said Professor of Arab Studies at Columbia University and the author of six books on Palestinian history and American foreign policy in the Middle East, including Palestinian Identity and Resurrecting Empire. Khalidi is a former advisor to Palestinian negotiators at the Madrid and Washington peace talks and currently serves as the editor of the Journal of Palestine Studies.

Amjad Atallah is a former advisor to Palestinian negotiators. Atallah is co-Director of the Middle East Task Force of the New America Foundation.
