I Got My Reasons (The Most Dangerous Show On The Internet)

""If your parents are bigots who'd wish you'd disrespect my office, remember our democracy gives even the silliest underachievers among us a voice!" Al Franken called my satirical style "sophisticated" and "charming". But we aren't the most dangerous crew on BTR for nothing, either. Our show brings you political commentary, music and discussion of art and culture you won't hear anywhere else ... smart and fun commentary from co-hosts Leyla, Donald and Stephanie; show regulars like Ellen and Robzilla; and great guests that we don't bore with "straight" interviews. As far as I know we are the ONLY show anywhere who did a hip-hop remix of David Cay Johnston (and played it to him!), or were told by punk icon and best-selling author Legs McNeil that we "f-ing suck." Someone has to crank call the crank callers, might as well be us.

    Date / Time:

Republicans Tell America: "Just Say No;" Americans Do (To Them)!

Is it just me or are the Republicans embracing a defeatist agenda? They "won" the last round, if by winning you mean getting the most coverage of silly talking points and grandstanding on the stimulus bill, in the so-called "liberal" media. The media had all but marginalized the most popular new President in decades to failure, while Obama slowly and surely GOT IT DONE. This editorial covers some of that.

But I'd take it further. When the head of the RNC essentially declares logic and reason dead... something is up!

Say what? The last few weeks have been filled with similar statements by Republicans that simply make no sense. We've learned that large-scale infrastructure projects like rapid transit systems do not create jobs. That "spending" isn't stimulus... something that any Economics 101 student could explain away. What is going on here? Is the opposition creating a "win by losing" strategy? Or is there even a strategy at all? It seems their tone-deaf response to the concerns of working Americans has made them rejected all the more. Your thoughts?
