Setting Your Sights on Your Best

Setting Your Sights on Your Best,
Today marks the day of the beginning of Ignition Radio. It was very excting to see so many listeners take time out of their crazy Monday morning and take time for themsleves. I spent a half an hour talking about the vision and pourpose of Ignite Your Life and a little about my background. It is a great exercise in self awareness, to share your life with others. If you take the time to share with others some of your successes and challenges it is a way of embracing and owning the epxereinces that equal your current life.
Some people may be facing a life that is somewhat less than they dreamed for, I think its safe to say that most of us have been there at some point or another. Today was an opportinity to share with people some of my life shaping journeys. I am a believer that life's expereinces are a map to a great life, not only for the person directly involved but for any life they touch there after. I faced some very sad times in my life. At the time of their occurance I had no coping skills except a lot of wine and some anti-depressants. The pills were my doctors choice, the wine was mine. But I knew they couldn't go hand in hand, so I had t make a choice and I chose wine. It was quicker to dull the pain. The pain was the loss of a little baby boy that was meant to be our second child.
That IS pain, it was then, and it was for a long time. Why would I share such a painful and personal expereice with you, becuase this moment in my life shaped who I am today. I love who I am today, I didn't love myself then. I blamed myslef, all my choices, although there were no bad choices. This beautiful boy Max was a gift. He saved my life; meaning that he directed my path toward a great love that was already present. I had another beautiful boy at home, 9 months old that didn't have all of his mother.
I was depressed and feeling unworthy and less than a perfect mother when I was pregnant with my Max. When Max left us, he gifted me with the vision of my current son and our relationship soared.
I set my sights on being the best Mom I could be.
Why do I share this, because pain can be life changing, to say the least. I do believe that at any given moment when things look too bad to bare, we can still soar to our best...our OWN PERSONAL BEST. One of the greatest gifts we can give to oursleves is to love ourselves at any given moment. If you can hold onto the knowledge that you were created with an ultimate beautiful goal, then any moment in your life...good or bad, is a piece of your map. A flat terrain with no bumps or curving roads may seem safe, but look at Kansas, seems fairly calm but stay there long enough and it too will see a tornado.
Don't wish for a perfect, peacueful, boring life, you won't be prepared when the tornado comes, and eventually it will. Bumps and valleys and mountain tops are a glorious part of the terrain that is you life...the cool thing is that as you journey through each area, you no longer are ill equipped for the next journey. Your map is unfolding before you. Soar at your best at any given moment and reap the rewards of a life well experienced.

    My best
    Suzanne
