  1. In Ercian Philosophy, I stress the importance of FREEDOM OF THOUGHT. While we are lucky to live in a country that grants its citizens FREEDOM OF SPEECH, I am afraid many people fail to use FREEDOM OF THOUGHT.  In other words, freedom of speech is something a government or a constitution grants the individual, while freedom of thought is something ONLY THE INDIVIDUAL CAN GRANT TO HIMSELF OR HERSELF.

So, what I am saying here is that people with closed minds, people who think they already have, for example, the whole truth regarding God, cannot learn anything new or progress to a higher Truth because their minds are not open to consider new ideas. If, as a fundamentalist born again Christian you fail to put under deep examination the well-reasoned arguments of someone who comes with a different message, then you may miss out on some truths because you held on to what is literally written in the Bible and will not deviate from that path. To me, the fundamentalist type of believer whether he is Christian, or Jewish, or Muslim, or from any other religion cannot advance. He or she should not even bother listening to other people’s ideas. Do you understand what I am saying Jim? In other words, if whatever anybody tells you (facts, well-reasoned arguments, evidence of some kind) is not going to move you from your position, and if you have decided this ahead of time, then why bother listening to whatever others have to say?
