Where do we begin to describe a Vocal Goddess?  Let's begin at the start of the Goddess LIFE ;)  Karla Harris spent her childhood days writing stories on the weekends.  And making sure that she delved into her parents' eclectic LP collection.  Nancy Wilson, Barbra Streisand, Sammy Davis, Jr. - then there was Billie Holiday, the 5th Dimension and Aretha.  Yep, you can hear a LOT of those influences in Karla.  Might yours truly add: Shirley Bassey.  POWER.  This woman is all about the power and control.

Karla and her cousin entertained the family when they were very young girls - but it was when she was ten that she performed a solo at school.  And something CLICKED.

In college, Karla was asked to sing with the St. Louis Jazz Quartet.  She became known as a versatile and in-demand PRO. The early 2000's found our guest singing in combos led by Tom Kennedy.  Tom's connections with Rosemary Clooney, Freddie Hubbard , Ben Vereen and way more bode well for Karla.  Their musical partnership paved the way for a successful move to Jazz-rich Portland.  That lively scene opened MORE doors for this amazing vocalist.

Her first CD, "Twice As Nice", debuted in 2007.  Standards done anew.  In 2012, Karla re-located to Atlanta - and this is where the star began to truly shine.  Rave reviews spilled OVER when "Karla Harris Sings the Dave & Iola Brubeck Songbook" was released.  Needless to say, we were WAITING for "Certain Elements!"  We have a sneak peek at the new album - and let me say this: this teacher, artist-in-residence, and SUPERB vocalist has accomplished what she always wanted: to touch people in the very center of their being.  When YOU hear these tracks, you'll stop IN your tracks.
