This is not Carl Filipiak's first rodeo on "Hybrid Jazz."  If you've been paying attention since 2011, the name is familiar to you.  Especially since he has visited and we've thrilled to any new recording that he gives to us.

Imagine the excitement, then, when he told his pal about his NEW record with the Jimi Jazz Band.  With a wry title, "What Now" (he'll explain!), this album is full of the exciting and surprising music that Carl is known to create.  And what a creator he IS!  Lovingly re-turning "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Sunny" - and deliciously spinning those classics into a mix of originals.  With some of the BEST musicians to grace a guitarist's ensemble.

We'll hear a few of those tunes and talk to Carl about the music business.  Baltimore based but world-traveled, he will have MUCH to say.  Here are some other folks who might have much to say about HIM: Roberta Flack and Wynton Marsalis - as well as the legendary Dennis Chambers (also from Baltimore) and Victor Wooten.

In 2015, Carl made a tremendous journey to the Abbey Road Studios in London for a very special project - we'll talk about that, too - and his love for the Beatles as well as Jimi Hendrix and all that is JAZZ.  This incredible talent is known for his fusion skills, after all.  And his intrinsic passion for HYBRID genres :)

Author and teacher, composer and mentor, it's wonderful to call Carl Filipiak a FRIEND.  It's wonderful to be this proud of him - after all the independent recordings and the accolades from publications (from ALL musical angles!) and the partnerships with mutual friends who love him as EYE do.  He deserves the love that he's getting from this new release.  And we're gonna give it to him on 7/20!  See you at one p.m. Eastern.
