Gracious it's tough not to brag about this tremendous talent!  Socrates Garcia is a composer, arranger, producer, recording engineer, keyboardist, guitarist, and profoundly affecting educator.  He is the Director of Music Technology at the University of Northern Colorado - so we must be in and out of this interview on 2/16/2017 :)

Yes, Professor Garcia is BUSY!  And he's enjoying the success of his recent project.  When you hear the Socrates Garcias Latin Jazz Orchestra's "Back Home", it might catapult you into another SPHERE!  Seriously, this is what you need to see regarding the music - from our guest's website.  This work is a "symbiotic combo of Afro-Dominican and Afro-Caribbean genres within the aesthetic of contemporary Jazz orchestral compostions."  WHEW!

This award-winning visionary has MANY credits to his name before this latest buzzworthy venture (should we say ADventure?)  Garcia has been a Professor at Middle Tennessee State U and the Santo Domingo Convervatory of Music. He has been involved with truly successful endeavors and artists - and the years spent in honing his skills have culminated in this new "Hybrid" of roots and experiences from his homeland AND his travels in the USA.

When you see the "All About Jazz" Review pertaining to "Back Home", you realize how powerful this album is.  This from reviewer Jack Bowers: "Not only is Back Home a near-perfect blend of Dominican and American music - it stands all on its own as a superlative example of big band Jazz at its best.  Well-done, Socrates."  Needless to say, somebody is pretty excited to welcome him tomorrow on the show :)  Three p.m. Eastern.  We start at TWO.  See you in The Chat Room!
