Please make note of our special time for thie year's end show: two p.m. Eastern on 12/29. We don't want you to miss a single note or sentence of breathtaking conversation from our two - wait for it: geniuses. Catherine Russell stops by at three and we won't keep her long. She is getting ready for a sold-out David Bowie show in the U.K. on the late legend's birthday, January 8th. Then, she'll be in tribute to him again on the 10th in New York. You see, Cat toured with Bowie for two years - his pull-back from touring some years ago paved her way for an astounding solo career that has garned MULTIPLE awards for excellence re: live performance and recording. She already has two Grammy Awards - one for work with the late Levon Helm - and the other for her role in HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" - now she awaits the verdict on her OWN "Harlem on My Mind" project. This First Lady of Blazz - the best combination of Blues and Jazz :) - has a resume that will bring you to your knees.
Someone ELSE who does: our long-time friend, David Marama. Having lived in Tanzania and Russia, David now makes his home in Melbourne, Australia. Besides the fact that he is a stellar musician and bandleader who unites as well as inspires, David also has more in his background. He has an education that weaker students couldn't conceive: public international law and diplomacy and conflict resolution. He has assisted displaced refugees from Mozambique, fought for the rights of women, mentored students - including teaching music to children, and is a world-class photographer. Dizzy yet? Our amazing visionary speaks multiple languages and is offering us a taste of his unique heritage via song for our year's end episode. I guarantee: you will walk away from this show refreshed and renewed!
