Yes, we got a TAD ambitious this time :)  No apology!  This is FUN - to shine a light on the D.C. Jazz Festival, some of the artists who have made the nation's capitol POP - and also to focus on a very special show this weekend in Baltimore.

Warren Wolf is a MOST incredible artist who is continually getting buzz in the Jazz community.  A multiple instrumentalist, he is mostly known for his vibraphone skills.  No less than Gary Burton has said publicly (on "Hybrid Jazz") that he considers Warren to be the torch bearer - in his footsteps - to carry on the legacy of VIBES.  This young man has seen more at his age than many because of his artistry. Who can tell you how much he is appreciated?  Christian McBride, Tia Fuller, Bobby Watson, and MANY more A-List Legends or stars-in-the-making.  He is seriously Baltimore's pride and joy.  His Mother thought so, too.  Warren lost his Mom last year - and this weekend's beautiful show at Jazzway 6004 will celebrate Celeste Wolf's life.  With some celestial beings sharing the stage with a grateful son.

Marianne Matheny-Katz is a remarkable woman of many talents.  Originally from Staten Island, New York, she made her way to Baltimore in the 80's.  She had left music behind for a time - but she arrived in Charm City with a degree in Economics AND a hunger to resume a singing career that she had put aside to focus on family.  She sought to refine her voice with the help of incredible teachers - she also found an amazing job in Government that was able to fuel her dreams for a house.  This home was to become a most beloved venue in Baltimore: Jazzway 6004.  Here, Marianne and husband, Howard, can feed their patrons goodies from Mariannie's talented gourmet fingers.  They can hear her lovely voice - and the artists that she invites to perform.  Like Warren Wolf :)
