Apparently, little Paulette McWilliams was singing before she could speak.  That's the legendary story we like to tell :)  Truth is that Mama sang and a pretty daughter followed suit.  And those journeys since childhood?  The stuff of DREAMS!

Our guest on 5/17/2016 is considered one of the A-List vocalists on the planet.  If you rememeber (duh!) Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough", there was Paulette.  Aretha's "Jump To It""  Boom.  Luther's "Wait for Love" and "Bad Boy/Having a Party?"  Paulette.  She was on tour with Quincy Jones more than once - spent time with Marvin Gaye on HIS last tour, singing all the Tammi Terrell parts.  Bette Midler, Jennifer Lopez, Mary J. Blige, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston - this is how Paulette has rolled for DECADES.

Besides her recording, touring and stage work, she has excelled in work involving commercials.  You have heard her on Folger's Coffee spots, McDonald's, and the popular "Love Jones" ad for Mercedes.  To show you how serendipity works in her life: she was the vocalist for a group named Ask Rufus back in the day.  And she needed to break free because of another committment.  She introduced the band to Chaka Khan - and you know the rest of THAT story.  She and Chaka remain friends to this day :)

How things work: yours truly posted a collage this morning, lamenting about the passing of Sammy Davis Jr. on May 16th, 1990.  As it turns out, Sammy was influential in Paulette's life.  When she was 11, she came in second on the TV show, "Amateur Hour."  Sammy saw how talented a budding star was - and told her to go for it.  She DID!

Paulette is celebrating a new tour - the reason for her visit.  Let's celebrate WITH her!  See you in The Chat Room.
