We don't usually have a show on Monday - then again, we never had Jesse Cook as a guest :) Born in Paris, raised in Toronto, this musical visionary would have been welcomed to "Hybrid Jazz" any day of the week! It so happens that he could visit on 10/5. So be it.
When you hear Jesse speak, you will understand the mad respect that has followed him for YEARS. He has received 11 Juno nominations - and won for his work in 2000, "Free Fall." He sees his style of playing as Hybrid - don't think that hasn't endeared him to a few of us (Hah!) It's a perfectly natural way of viewing his fingers on guitar. Jesse was trained classically, developed a strong interest in Flamenco and Jazz, and has incorporated (so, SO organically) Rhumba Flamenco into his consciousness. And nothing is ever forced with this incredible talent. His passion for authenticity has taken him from Cairo and Columbia to all points East and West in the States. His ears are open to the richness of culture. Combining that assimilation with his own sensitive intuition regarding what would sound unique, he has created a new project that is mind-blowing. Here's why - on top of what was already stated: "One World" blends ancient wisdom with new technology. Much of the latter was breathed into being by Jesse's young son - who loves to tinker in Dad's studio. Dad will explain!
Our artist/producer/composer/ is overwhelmingly adherent to a worldwide philosophy of unity. From Jesse: "If you pull your focus back enough, you start to see all music as branches of the same tree." What he has done with his "One World" captures that imagery in ways that will astound you. Jesse also firmly believes that technology, partnered with love, can produce positive change - even healing :) Join us on 10/5!
