How fabulous to have my friend, Bass Master/Composer/Teacher/Clinician/Mentor Christian de Mesones return to "Hybrid Jazz!"  In previous visits, Christian and yours truly would discuss upcoming scenarios for Groove Skool, a group that has earned wide respect for several years.  But our guest has NEVER been the kind of artist to let the grass grow under his Big New Yawk feet ;)  He has plans for shows and projects - and thoughts to share!

This charismatic individual has been playing bass for over 30 years.  At 18, he graduated from what is now known as The Musician's Institute in Hollywood, California.  There, he had the opportunity to study with Abe Laboriel, Steve Morse, Pat Metheny, and Ray Brown - among others!  By request from a famous faculty member (a guest of the school), Christian performed an original for graduation.  And made Pat Martino extremely happy!

Thereafter, Christian served as superlative bass man for a number of groups - in Hawaii, Virginia and New York (of course!)  In the mid-80's, he was a key member of "Twice Shy" - out of The Big Apple.  Heavy Metal.  Oh, yes, this man is known to be HYBRID, Baby!  Multiple genres.  A move to the South put him in the spotlight with Hip Hop and R & B acts - and he was the bassist for the popular "Big Patt and Legion" in Richmond - they were known for drawing exceptionally large crowds.

When Christian made the move to Northern Virginia, things came to a delightful musical boil: he was teaching, getting involved with students (ask him about his "Bass Symphony!") and creating the vibe for Groove Skool.  Now, a BIG show for Big New York looms - the reason for his visit - and we hear that there's another recording in the future!  Let's put it to you this way: his visits are never boring.  LOL!  Join us on 7/24 - in The Chat Room!
