How wonderful to have Minas brought to my attention!  Not only are they based in the old hometown of Philadelphia, but they conjure the most fabulous images of another favorite place: Brazil!  Patricia King and Orlando Haddad form the nucleus of this marvelous energy...and they can perform as duo, ensemble, in an orchestra or big band.  And they're celebrating 30 years of ALL of these configurations this year :)

Minas was formed in 1978 at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.  When Patricia and Orlando found their unique groove, they also found themselves performing on the East Coast.  Inspired by their reception and hungry to learn more about their passionate musical roots, they moved to Brazil.  There, they absorbed their destiny - feeling the vibe of the country, immersing themselves in the culture and music that fueled their dreams.  Having fulfilled a mission, they returned to the States in 1984.  Audiences grew to love their fresh and authentic take a myriad of Brazilian styles: from Bossa to Blues, Choro, Folk and Samba.  And they are equally as comfortable in Jazz and Classical.  Matter-of-fact, Minas is about to present an operetta on the World Cafe, based in Philly!

Instrumentalists, Composers, Vocalists, and Devotees of Musical Imagery, Patricia and Orlando are amazing at what they do!  And they're visiting "Hybrid Jazz" to draw attention to a very special event that's coming up in July - a live and intimate gathering at one of our beloved establishments in Charm City.

Get to know Minas by heading to www.minasmusic.com.  Make sure you hear them on Pandora - they have their own radio station!  And find a comfy seat in The Chat Room on 6/19.  You'll hear inspirational music and conversation - that's a promise!
