This is the way that "Hybrid Jazz" rolls - we start off with a plan - and the plan GROWS! It's an absolute thrill to welcome back the incredibly respected guitarist, Joshua Breakstone - that's a GIVEN. Having debuted in 1979, this prolific artist has created a lifetime's worth of projects, toured Japan more than ANY performer that I know, and has been compared to Wes Montgomery on more than one occasion.
The reviews have been stellar regarding Joshua's latest work, "With The Wind and the Rain." All About Jazz and NPR glow when they speak of the musicianship involved here - and another critic speaks of Joshua's "understated eloquence." For some of us, hearing the late Emily Remler in the vibe isn't a bad thing, either! Beautiful playing with a purpose. Our guest's first inspirations were Lee Morgan - then Clifford Brown and Charlie Parker. That's right: trumpet and sax. Both notes and emotion are important for Joshua to convey - oh boy, does he fulfill THAT mission!
We're going to hang in the second hour of the show, so expect audio bliss and lively conversation. Meanwhile, a new development: Uber Producer Matthew Shell will be joined by MTS Creative Consultant and Singer, Kenny McNeil - and they might be joined by Star-On-The-Rise, Sydni Alexander - in our third hour :) Kenny and Sydni have a new song called "Inspire Me" - and it's hard to describe the place where this music takes you. It's as though a teenage Idina Menzel paired with a soulfully pleading prince to her princess - and a love anthem was born. It's exciting to contemplate the future of these talents - and it's a thrill to bring them to you!
The fun starts at one - don't you miss a single moment of "Hybrid Jazz From Trish Hennessey" on 3/13/14!
