So many of us have looked forward to this interview - for a number of reasons. For yours truly, it's an opportunity to delve into a talent who is considered both cerebral and passionate. Intuitive, creative, motivated both acoustically and electrically. What Chris Standring has given to us by way of his guitar has stirred us in ways that we may not be able to articulate. One of those songs, "Blue Bossa".was at the top of the Contemporary Jazz chart for nine weeks! That was in 2010 - when we took notice of the sensually produced, "Blue Bolero." Chris was busy BEFORE that year, of course, and is he ever NOW!
You know about "Electric Wonderland" from last year - the pop and spin of that music was infectious - a left turn from "Bolero." Well, Chris is planning another clever detour in 2014 - a new CD with more bridges to cross and pages to fill. And he has a VERY cool show that's coming up in his adopted neighborhood of Los Angeles. With the exquisite Kathrin Shorr, the vocalist with whom he shared 2011's "Send Me Some Snow." We'll be talking about the hip holiday feeling that's conveyed from that project. And what to expect from the in-tune mind and as-yet-unreleased music of our Buckinghamshire, England guitar master.
This journey began for Chris in the late 90's - and to say that the road has picked up steam would be an understatement :) "Groovalicious", "Soul Express", "Love and Paragraphs" - each work left an impression on those who appreciate a full-course meal regarding Jazz - not just an appetizer. That's where the intelligence comes into play - in the PLAYING! We'll have a ball listening to a few tracks - it will put you exactly where you need to be in the season. Hang with us in The Chat Room...we'll keep a seat warm
