Hybrid Jazz Celebrating Women - with Corinthia Cromwell!

Recently, we've had guests on the show who re-focused attention on the need to PAY attention to women.  Amy K. Bormet talked about the Washington Women in Jazz Festival - she is the creator of this awesome endeavor and is a keyboardist/vocalist/composer as well.  More recently, Grace Kelly was with us - and her fearlessness about approaching music indicated that it was time to shine a light on Women in Jazz!

Another fearless saxophonist/composer/vocalist (and more) is Corinthia Cromwell.  Based in Baltimore now, but she also worked and learned much in New York.  Chrissy has been involved in film projects ("Malcolm X", "Head of State" and "Boomerang") and has played with or opened for names that we revere: Wayman Tisdale and Kirk Whalum.  She is also a dedicated woman of God and two-time cancer survivor.  So when I tell you that she has a story - this is no exaggeration!

Chrissy is going to hang with yours truly for the duration of the show on April 16th, 2013.  We'll be discussing the success of her own project, "Peace of Mind Outside the Lines" with the Evolution Band - as well as the projects and events and journeys of other women who we know or would like to get to know better.  We really believe that we need to lift one another UP in a world that does its best (at times) to tear us down.  Or at least - hope we go away :)

Make sure that you know: if you are a woman and you play an instrument and are involved in Jazz, this show is for YOU!  Call us at 323 - 843 - 6172 tomorrow and tell us your experiences in this exciting and frequently challenging walk.  We'll get to your call as soon as we can!  Enjoy the music, in the meantime, of some movers and shakes of the female persuasion.  We'll celebrate as many as we can!
