Extraordinary drummer/composer/bandleader Kendrick Scott's arrival in New York City in 2003 must have triggered some kinda good nerve - because the town hasn't been the same since!  Kendrick defines the future of Jazz - and he has performed with those who sense that : Herbie Hancock, the Jazz Crusaders and more all-stars that would spin your head. A long-time association with Terence Blanchard has resulted in multiple projects, including the soundtrack from "Red Tails" last year. Kendrick's new CD, "Conviction", dropped yesterday and we're celebrating tomorrow!
Baltimore based Todd Marcus is more than meets the "ear." A fascinating talent...one of the only artists in the world to focus solely on bass clarinet. And this has resulted in international chatter - THAT he plays and HOW he plays.  What's more: Todd has become increasingly passionate about his Egyptian heritage and his music reflects that. "Inheritance" has reduced critics to rubble - so smitten with someone adept at creating a new chapter in what is clearly advanced Jazz. Todd will talk to me at three - and we'll also discuss his love of community service. Since college, he has been active in hands-on social change.  We'll see where, happily, that has taken him!  Join us for a truly positive show on 3/28.
